Poet's Outlook
For David Campbell, poetry is not an excuse for engaging in snobbery,
or posturing. It is an important part of expressing what unfolds in the
world and in his life, and is not based on the reading of other poets,
as he feels that poetry should come, instead, out of experience, observation
of inner and outer unfoldings, being open to the wisdom of the ages and
of the present, and the music that is available, when language is used
in a way that is open to it coming through into a poem.
David enoys listening to certain other poets reading certain
poems, with the central qualities of subtlety and authenticiy, and humour,
if possible, present. He anticipates having a new book of poetry published
in the New Year, and also having another edition of his last book, "Between
Songs" printed.
